About

The emergency of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the major challenges to human health nowadays. Nowadays, it is increasingly common to see two or more NCDs in the same population. Although genetic factors may play a part, the risk of developing multimorbidity is associated with drastically modified risk factors. Lack of exercise, unhealthy food habits, as well as exposure to environmental pollutants, smoking, depression and other eminently modifiable lifestyles have also been shown to be associated with increased NCDs risk. This project is designed to use data from UK Biobank to research the joint effect of dietary factors and lifestyle factors on health outcomes. We will use classical epidemiological methods and machine learning algorithms to conduct our project. Meanwhile, the whole project will take approximately 36 months. We will explore the relationship between specific nutrients or foods and plasma levels of immune markers or their impact on the risk of immune-related diseases. The impact of different dietary patterns on human health and provide a powerful methodological tool for nutritional epidemiology will be also evaluated. So we can provide decision-making supports for precise and individualized intervention.
